Social facts are reflected and manifested in the built world: they create structures and
norms; assign roles and prescribe behavior. The kitchen - a space constructed for
centuries. A space designed for providing, caring, nurturing others. As early as 1920, the
Frankfurt kitchen emerged as a kind of mass-produced, thoroughly rationalized and
standardized workspace for women.
The experimental short film „Lemon Fudge" wants to break with constructed norms
imposed on women. The performers appear as rebellious, disobedient beings who are
impatient and strong-willed. They resist by reversing the process of routine preparation
and becoming lusty and combative, unpredictable individuals with multiple histories. They
cut up, squeeze, rub in, whip meat on the table, mix, cut up, skewer, and marinate. They
smash the place and recode it. There is escalation, ecstasy, disobedience. Understood as
an escape from everyday life, which still limits and confines spaces. A symbolic act that
wants to clear up numerous labels and expectations of women. She abandons her role as
a delicate, sensitive, caring and nurturing being. The resistance becomes a determined
and passionate game.
