Land-Leben
Moving Images ClassFor city dwellers, life in the countryside is usually an image of longing. But what is true about this image spread by literature, painting, photography, film and advertising?
In cooperation with the Domäne Dahlem country estate, farm and museum in southwest Berlin, we will explore ecological agriculture, horticulture, animal keeping, food culture and other facets of rural life, as well as urgent questions about the future.
On May 4, artist and author Jürgen Claus will talk about environmentally related art since the 1960s. Also planned are a workshop at the Sauen estate in Brandenburg (May 11-14 ) and a workshop with choreographer and performer Prof. Rhys Martin, as well as a theory trip to the Uckermark (June 4-5) with Prof. Dr. Kathrin Peters to explore the history of alternative ways of living.
As part of the semester theme, we will create video works and installations that may be included in the October 2021 exhibition "MORGEN. Experimental Investigations and Future Models" at the Domäne Dahlem together with works from the space class. These can be experimental, documentary, essayistic, narrative, performative, or interactive formats using real footage, animation techniques, digital post-production, or programming.
Conditions of participation:
Admission is open to students of the KuM and VK (BA from 3rd semester) courses who already have basic knowledge and practical experience in the field of film and video production.
